Star Prairie Fish & Game Association August Meeting

Monday, August 17, 2009 –Don Madsen’s on Cedar Lake

 

 

     The August meeting of the SPF&G was called to order at 7:05 pm  President Dan Bygd.

 

     The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports were approved as read.

Committee Reports :

 

  1. Senior Pontoon ride : A fall pontoon ride on Cedar lake will be held on Sept. 2 at 1:45 with 3 pontoons to take out the seniors from the Health Center who could not make the spring ride.  This is a ride only from Jaecklin’s boat launch.
  2. Fisheries/Habitat :   The 4th annual Youth Day will be at Forrest Ridge on Saturday, Oct 3.  Contact Dan Cain if you are able to help
  3. Park Party :   The event will be on Thurs. Aug 20, with setup on Wed. starting at 4:00.   A smaller 40 x 40 ft tent will be used this year and the flag presentation ceremony will be eliminated.   Beer prices will be raised to $2.50 this year.
  4. Buck’s Night :   The committee will be buying the rest of the guns for the event.
  5. McMurtrie/Land Trust :   Parking lot lights have been delivered, and will be put up this year ready for connection when site electrical is in.  The nature trail guide book will be placed on the Menke’s business web site.
  6. OutReach/Youth :  The club made donations of $100 to Friends of the Willow, and $220 to Indianhead Bassers.
  7. The club has 38 members paid for 2009, and 15 Life ( age 65 and older).   . 

 

 

 

Old Business/New Business:

 

1.       The club is committed to participate in Phase V of a NAWCA Prairie Pothole grant for 2009 – 2010 with In Kind labor donations up to $15,000.  Club projects such as clearing brush or buckthorn, prairie restorations, etc are eligible.  Dan Cain will coordinate the grant activities. 

 

          The next meeting of the SPF&GA is scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2009 with the 6:00 pm social hour and the 7:00 pm regular meeting at Don Madsen’s on Cedar Lake 

 

 

 With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.
