The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports were read and approved as presented.

Reports for each committee were given:

1.    Plans for the educational building have been presented to various groups with momentum for the development picking up speed as time moves forward.

2.    The Bucks Night Committee will begin the 10 Gun raffle effort in May.

3.    The Disabled Hunt Committee will meet soon to finalize plans for this years’ event.

4.    The 2005-2006 fish cribs are setting on the bottom of Cedar Lake with more to be built this coming winter. The fish crib project is a joint effort with the Cedar Lake Protection District set up on a 50:50 basis.

5.    The New Richmond Service Day is scheduled for May 18th. Three homerooms have been scheduled for work at Saratoga Springs Park and the Star Prairie Ball Field.

6.    The Park Party Committee has also made plans for their 2006 event with contacts made and plans progressing accordingly.

7.    The Senior Pontoon Rides will again be offered through Community Education and are scheduled for Thursday, June 15th.

8.    Memberships are coming in and the roster is being updated routinely. Newsletter and e-mail announcements are now going out to club members.

Old Business:

1.    The SPF&GA has received the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation’s 2005 Local Conservation Club of the Year Award. It was presented on April 8th in Tomah, Wisconsin. The award will be on display with others received by the club at Don Madsen’s until the new environmental learning center is constructed.

2.    There is a secure site on our website that can be accessed through the use of a password that is available to current club members. The password was available at the April meeting and can be obtained from any club Director.

3.    Resolutions for a reduction in panfish bag limits in St Croix County’s water from 25 to 10 and a protective slot size on walleyes (14-18 inches) with a walleye bag limit reduction from 5 to 3 on Cedar Lake was addressed at the 2006 Spring Hearings held in New Richmond on April 10th. The panfish resolution was submitted by the St Croix County Alliance of Sportsmen and passed 51-8 while the Cedar Lake walleye resolution was submitted by the Cedar Lake District and passed 50-6.

New Business:

1.    The Village of Star Prairie will be applying for a grant to upgrade the ball park facility and has asked the SPF&GA for a commitment for in kind labor as part of the Village’s matching efforts in receiving the grant. Following much discussion it was felt that the club could provide a letter of support for the project upon request and a limited amount of in kind labor. Due to other commitments at this time which includes work on the McMurtrie environmental center and projected involvement in the Saratoga Springs project it could not stretch the limits of club member involvement. The request was then tabled to a later date.

2.    A grant had been submitted to the Polk/Burnett Charities through a “Round-up Program” and it was announced that the club has received $750.00.

3.    The Bob Moberg Scholarship presentation will be awarded on May 26th by President Dan Bygd.

The next meeting of the SPF&GA is scheduled for Monday, May 15th with the 6 pm social hour and the 7 pm regular meeting at Don Madsen’s on Cedar Lake

With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.

                                                                            Respectfully submitted

                                              Mike Reiter (Recorder)
