Star Prairie Fish & Game Association November Meeting

Monday, December 17, 2007 –Don Madsen’s on Cedar Lake

 

 

     The December meeting of the SPF&G was called to order at 7:19 pm by Vice President Chuck Magoon

 

     The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports were approved as read.  Funds allocated to the land trust in 2006 have been transferred.

Committee Reports :

 

  1. Committee reports for Senior Pontoon rides and Outreach were tabled.

 

  1. Bucks Night : The 2007  Buck’s Night event was a success, There were 252 people in attendance, 166 were individually paid and 86 through paid sponsorships.  A review of the event was held with notes made for next year.  Club thank-you cards were mailed to major contributors : Gander Mountain, Sportsmans Warehouse, Grammas Pheasant hunts, Orland Bygd, Big Lake Store, Russels Sport & Bike, and Jay-See sports.  A discussion was held on the need for a credit card machine at next year’s event.

 

  1. Fisheries/Habitat : The fish cribs will be placed on the rock pile area NW of Don Demulling’s.  GPS locations have been marked.   The plan is to build 40-50 cribs, with assembly done at the north landing.   Logs should be delivered by January 1.  Tentative dates for the build and move of the cribs are Saturday January 26 starting at 8:00, meet at the north landing on Cedar lake, with an alternate date of February 2, 2008.   Brush needs to be moved from the Beyl WPA.   An inventory of cement blocks and re-bar will be taken.

 

  1. Park Party : Ideas on changes for next year, such as bands, dates, or exhibits need to begin now.

 

  1. McMurtrie property : The road upgrade and parking lot have been completed, the wildlife pond has been seeded.  Aleisha Miller has purchased waders, and other equipment for environmental events at the site.   A discussion was held on the possibility of the club taking over the maintenance at the Meinke cabin, a motion was made and passed that the club would be willing to do so.

 

  1. The club has 72 members in good standing, with 3 new members in the last month.

Old Business/New Business:

 

1.    Board of Directors terms that are up : S. Nelson. C. Magoon, and D. Peterson.  Members interested in running for, or nominating someone to run for, the board should contact Mike Reiter.

2.    Club shirts, that were worn at Buck’s night, are available to club members for $30.

3.    Erv Erickson has received bids for the lumber to build 25 wood duck houses.

4.    A special thanks to Dick Hoppe for donating the roast pork for tonights meeting.

 

 

 

            The Annual meeting of the SPF&GA is scheduled for Monday, January 21, 2008, with the 6 pm social hour and the 7 pm regular meeting at Ready Randy’s Sports Bar & Grill, located south of New Richmond
