Old Business/New Business:

1.    Upcoming Banquets :

a.    St. Croix Alliance Conservation Banquet – Tuesday, March 20, in Baldwin

b.    Strutting Toms NWTF – Monday, March 26 at the “Tac”,  in Amery

c.    Indianhead Pheasants Forever – Thurs., April 5, at the “Tac”, in Amery

2.    The DNR Spring Hearings will be held on Monday, April 16. The St. Croix county hearings are held at WITC in New Richmond.   There are questions of local interest on the walleye regulations on Cedar Lake, and panfish limits in St. Croix County.    SPF&G members are urged to attend and voice their opinions.  Because this date conflicts with the next scheduled club meeting, it was decided to move the next meeting from Monday to Tuesday, April 17.

3.    The club is responsible for  $15,000  of “In Kind” labor on eligible practices, such as prairie burns, tree plantings, etc for the continuing Phase IV of the NAWCA grant.  All club labor, at $10 per man-hour, should be reported for tracking purposes against this commitment.

4.    The winter access on the southwest bay of Cedar lake is in very bad shape, it was decided to send a letter to the Star Prairie town board requesting that the issue be addressed.

5.    The Wisconsin Wildlife Federation has requested support of their stance against Baiting and Feeding of deer.  Mike Reiter volunteered to draft a letter to them on behalf of the club, the club voted unanimously for support of a ban on Baiting and Feeding of deer.

6.    A person has been identified as one of the responsible parties for moving 2 of the fish cribs that the club built on Cedar lake.   Dave Hausman asked the club’s opinion on how we felt about dealing with this person, the general consensus was that an apology to the club from all people involved would be preferred over a more direct legal pursuit.

7.    The Ditch cleanup on Highway 65 from 210th St to County Road H is scheduled for 5:00 on Tuesday, April 17.  Members should meet at River Island Park and wear their club vests

The next meeting of the SPF&GA is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17th  with the 6 pm social hour and the 7 pm regular meeting at Don Madsen’s on Cedar Lake.    Note that this is a change from our regular Monday night.

With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:25 pm.

                                                                             Respectfully submitted

                                              Mike Kelly (Recorder)
