Lake
The August
meeting of the SPF&GA was called to order at 7:10 pm by President Dan Bygd.
The Secretary’s and
Treasurer’s reports were read and approved as presented.
Meeting Guests :
- Ben
Matthys – Eagle Scout Project report
- Wis. DNR : Warden
Paul Sickman
Committee Reports :
- Committee
reports for Outreach, Youth in the Outdoors, and Senior Pontoon rides were
tabled.
- Bucks
Night : The committee met before tonight’s regular meeting, Bids will be
requested from 3 possible locations for this years banquet. Sponsor lists
and games for the event were reviewed.
Club caps and travel mugs are available for door prizes.
- Park
Party : Profit from this years
event was about $1600.00, Newspaper adds did not make it into the paper,
but the club will be compensated on future business. Attendance was down this year, probably
from the effects of the area storm the day before.
- Education Building : The committee will tour DD Kennedy and
Garfield town park on lake
Wappogasset to look
at shelter buildings. The land swap
for a septic area is complete. Bids
and work for a driveway and parking lot into the site will be completed
this fall.
- Fisheries/Habitat
: It is time to start planning for
brush for the winter fish crib build.
US
F&W has given us permission to remove brush from the Biehl WPA again
this year. Dan Cain reported on
planting, prairie burns, and food plot acreage.
Old Business/New
Business:
1.
Thank you’s were received from : Ben Mortenson
the recipient of this years Bob Moberg scholarship. Tom Peterson showed the plaque that has a
listing of all of the past scholarship recipients. Pete Kling with UW Extension for our
donation to the County Fair exhibit.
2.
The Cedar Lake Community club has provided us a
copy of their budget, we will support them as needed. The town of Alden owns the site at the north access to
Cedar lake, with a restriction that the land and building revert back to the
Osceola school district if it is not used.
3.
There are 3 blaze orange club vests left ( size
XXX ) Craig Warren will look into ordering more vest for new members, with the
club logo.
4.
The Star Prairie trout farm is looking for ideas
on ways to interact with the club for the benefit of both parties.
5.
Ben Matthys gave a presentation on his Eagle Scout project of
restoring the bridges in Saratoga
park. A motion was made and passed to donate
$100 to cover some additional expenses on his project.
6.
Upcoming Banquets : D.U. – Hudson on Sep. 13 at the Valley House, D.U.-
Apple River
Sep. 24 at the Tac. Club policy is to
pay ½ of the dinner ticket cost of a club member attending a wildlife/
conservation banquet in support of these events.
The next meeting of the SPF&GA is scheduled for Monday, September
17, with the 6 pm social
hour and the 7 pm regular
meeting at Don Madsen’s on Cedar
Lake
With no further
business the meeting was adjourned at 8:15
pm.
