Star Prairie Fish & Game Association November Meeting

Monday, March 17, 2008 –Don Madsen’s on Cedar Lake

 

 

     The March meeting of the SPF&G was called to order at 7:17 pm by Secretary Mike Kelly.

 

     The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports were approved as read.      

    

Committee Reports :

 

  1. Senior Pontoon ride : On Cedar Lake is scheduled for June 17, with a rain date of June 18, the number of riders that will be accommodated was increased to 125 this year.

 

  1. Fisheries/Habitat : Donations for fish cribs at Russel’s Sport & Bike were picked up by Don Demulling.  A Cedar lake cleanup to remove ice-fishing debris is scheduled for Saturday, April 5.    Scheduled private land development of plantings, etc is down this year probably due to the economy and CRP land losses.

 

  1. Park Party : The date will be Tuesday, August 12   The park site and CIP help have been reserved, the bands will be Trigger Happy and the Chimeleskis (polka/old time)

 

  1. McMurtrie property/Land Trust : An engraved stone and sign have been ordered to be dedicated to Jack Hayes at the dam site.   Lumber for 12 Leopold  benches has been purchased, plans are being made to construct a covered shelter and rest rooms with storage at the site this summer.

 

  1. Outreach/Youth : Donations in the last month : Indianhead Pheasant Forever - $250, St. Croix Strutting Toms - $200, Wisconsin Wildlife Federation for membership - $199

 

  1. Buck’s Night : Chuck Magoon’s proposal to provide small binoculars as a door prize was discussed, there was general agreement, and the decision was referred to the event committee.  Buck’s Night will be Monday, November 17.

 

  1. The club has 71 members in good standing.   Dues notices for unpaid 2008 memberships will be mailed.

 

Old Business/New Business:

 

1.    The Cedar Lake School property ( north Cedar lake access area ) is owned by the township, the DNR is still pursuing purchase of the site for expanded boat trailer parking

2.    The NR school district Service Learning day is May 14, groups have bee arranged for planting the retention pond, constructing the Jack Hayes memorial, and installing gates, all at McMurtrie   Another project will be installing screening under the dock on the Cedar lake bay access.

 

 

           The next meeting of the SPF&GA is scheduled for Monday, April 21, 2008, with the 6 pm social hour and the 7 pm regular meeting at Don Madsen’s on Cedar lake.
