Star Prairie Fish & Game Association November Meeting

Monday, June 16, 2008 –Don Madsen’s on Cedar Lake

 

 

     The June meeting of the SPF&G was called to order at 7:12 pm by President Dan Bygd.

 

     The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports were approved as read.

 

Meeting Guests:    Rick Rosen – Warden, Wis DNR

                               Jason Happe – Warden Trainee, Wis DNR   

    

Committee Reports :

 

  1. Senior Pontoon ride : On Cedar Lake was re-scheduled for Tues. June 17, meet at the park at 11:00 for setup.  Bad weather last week forced the re-scheduling.

 

  1. Fisheries/Habitat : Warden Rosen has been on cedar lake about a half dozen times this spring, with a  few tickets being written for no license and boating violations.  With the panfish limit reduced to 10 this year, any  tips or concerns on over-bagging should be reported.   Jason is a warden trainee, currently residing in Eau Claire.

 

  1. Park Party :  Scheduled for Aug 12, 4 bartenders licenses required, the CIP has bee reserved for setup and cleanup

 

  1. McMurtrie property/Land Trust : The Jack Hayes memorial, near the dam will be dedicated on Saturday July 19 at 1:00.  Please park in the new parking lot off of County Road M and walk the trail to the site.   The boy scouts “Order of the Arrow” group will be camping at McMurtrie from Aug 22 to 24, they will replace the deck on the dam, assemble Leopold benches and work on clearing  the oak savannah on their work day.   A motion was made and passed to spend $50 for flowers and shoreline plants near the Menke cabin.   A work day is scheduled for Friday June 20 at 1:00 for mowing and yard clean up.

 

  1. Outreach/Youth :   A motion was made and passed to contribute $500 to the Forrest Ridge “Youth Hunt” on Saturday, Oct. 4th,  with the club also providing volunteer help

 

  1. Buck’s Night :  The 10 raffle guns have been placed at the area taverns.

 

  1. The club has 72 members in good standing.  

 

Old Business/New Business:

 

1.    Thank You’s were received from Indianhead Basser’s and Zach Johnson, this years recipient of the Bob Moberg scholarship.

2.    Liability coverage for the fish crib sleds, even when rented out, is covered under the club policy.  Umbrella insurance was discussed, and it was decided that this was not necessary, especially at the price quoted.

3.    Club Tee shirts have arrived, a motion was made to provide one free to active members, the cost of the shirts were about $10.00 each.

4.    President Dan Bygd led a discussion on the guidelines for Moberg scholarship recipients to receive the scholarship payment.

5.    Thank You’s will be sent to the 3 teachers that helped out on Service day, Chuck Frawley, Tom Kerr – USF&W, and Kerry Jackelen, aide to Ron Kind.

 

 

           The next meeting of the SPF&GA is scheduled for Monday, July 21, 2008, with the 6 pm social hour and the 7 pm regular meeting at the Menke garage in the McMurtrie preserve on Cedar lake.
